were going to hippie town!! im so excited.  ashley and i are staying tonight and tomorrow night at black mountain, nc.  im dragging her into every pottery shop i see : )  were also planning on going white water rafting (if its not too expensive), going into a cavern, and random other things.  basically, this is a trip just to relax–and it is greatly needed.  i wont think about school or work one bit this whole weekend, it will be great!  if ya need me call me on the cell, if i get service up there : )    ill be taking some really pretty pictures as well–be back sunday!

this place freakin rocks!  or at least about 3-4 blocks around the marriott hotel rocks.  im typing this having to backspace like every letter, im a little tipsy!  jordan and i met up with some cool potters, and we went to some galleries and did our conference duties, then hit up the liqour store!  we also went to a super cool trendy sushi bar (where i ordered steamed rice haha)  and felt really super cool.  jordan got this sake infused with blowfish…it was the most disgusting thing i have ever smelled/tasted.  gross!  all of the WOMEN in my room are now asleep and will be highly upset when i go busting in there drunk shortly.  i cant wait.  : )

im tempted to sleep on the floor in the hallway haha at least ill get some sleep without all the snooring!!

night all : )

i am currently sitting in the lobby of the marriot hotel in louisville kentucky stealing wifi : )  I rode in a van for 12 hours!!!!!!!!!!! 12!!!  thats just too long, and it was a little painful.  but to get worse, when i get here i find out im sharing a bed with a 60 year old woman.  i had no choice, i walk in the room and my name is on the bed.  if this is any indication of the rest of the week, then im screwed.  I really dont know what to expect.  ill just try to stay out of their way i guess lol  wish me luck!!!

pictures to come when i return!!

yesterday jordan and i finally fired the salt kiln.  This is such a long and nerve wracking process.  We started at 9:00 am, and didnt finish until almost 24 hours later–at 7 am.  And no, its not supposed to take this long.  It was so damn cold, and we dont really know exactly what we are doing yet–anyways, the kiln was cold the whole time and barely got hot enough to melt the glazes on the top shelf.

Here are some pictures from the firing.  At the end, we went a little crazy.

And in my opinion, the most awesome safety glasses EVER.

This morning i was informed i won the art show here at southern.  The funny thing is, i didnt even enter anything.  One of my professors entered something for me without telling me!  So i had no idea the whole time, and i missed the ceremony!  But i got a great goodie bag with 2 books, prismacolors, oil pastels, sketchbook, and a few other art supplies, and a check!  swweeeeeeet!  i was so excited : )

i think ill play with my prismacolors tonight!
