sculpture

so i have a somewhat fun sculpture project–any ideas are greatly appreciated:

i have to create a story about an individual, animal, thing, etc. and create a found object sculpture that is an homage to that person or thing.  This should be fun…i have to sauter and rivet and all that fun stuff….which ive never done before, so hopefully i will still have the full use of my hands at the end of this semester.

so im thinking:  Bill the lightbulb…wants desperately to be something else…a fan?  a tv?  maybe hes the superhero that powers the tv.  hmmm i dont know.  help please!  as outrageous as possible (because i have to use between 10 and 20 objects).

Spring Break

So its Saturday and tomorrow spring break will officially be over.  It went by so fast!  Emma and I had planned to do something together, but she punked out on me!  just kidding, she had some things she had to deal with.  But I would have loved for her to come down and chill with me at the beach.  But, alas, chilling at the beach was done alone, and with my mom, and one day with Elizabeth.  One thing looming over my head was/and still is my art history paper.  I devoted one entire day of my spring break to venture to the librarIES to commence my research and was hoping to have the paper done with…but no.   The SCAD library turned me away because of stupid St. Patty’s Day–they werent letting the public in until next week.  So there went my chances of finding the rare book that i needed.  So i proceeded directly to the ghetto library (even though it is beautiful, its just in a sketchy area) and exhausted the art section.  I took over the whole aisle…i sat down with books sprawled about me.  I felt like a real college nerd.  I kinda liked it.  I think i spent more time looking at modern art books (they had a whole book on Egon Schiele…i let out a little gasp when i saw it!!) than Bernini.  Why did i choose a topic on a sculpture in which there is no information out there at all…including the internet and the internet is glorious and has everything!   And now, I am just enjoying the apartment while I am alone.  My roommate will be back on Monday and then I’ll become a recluse again and hide in my room or just stay out all night.  hmmm.  I’m going to try to figure out how to put pictures on here.   -Jen
